Education PS Alters Term 2 Dates In The School Calendar. The Ministry Of Education is in charge of all the academic affairs of any country. In our country Kenya, the education ministry prepares a school calendar that runs for a whole year In the calendar, all academic events are captured with their dates well highlighted.
Incase changes are made on the school calendar, its only the ministry of education that can do that and send a memo confirming the same. This year, a few changes have been made to the school calendar. We shall clearly highlight for you the changes that have taken place in order for you to be aware.
Revisions have officially been made to term 2 dates. In particular, the second term midterm dates have been slightly altered by the education ministry. The changes were announced by the Education PS Belio Kipsang in a memo dated April 24, 2023.
Education PS Alters Term 2 Dates In The School Calendar
Previously, term 2 mid term dates were scheduled to run from June 29th 2023 to July the 2nd of 2023. However, the PS has made it clear that the dates have been altered and the half term will now come much earlier. The half term will now run from June 27, 2023 to July 1 , 2023.
Kahi Indimuli is the chairperson of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association. He urged the PS to adjust slightly the dates for them to attend the already scheduled KESSHA conference.
As a result, this led to revisions of the term dates. The letter from the KESSHA chair had valid reasons that led to extension of mid term dates , to allow for heads to attend the 46th KESSHA conference.

Request to Extend Mid-Term Dates, Reference
This letter, Ref. KESSHA/NATCONFF/3/VOL.1/23, from the National Chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association on the aforementioned matter, dated March 26, 2023, is referred to.
“The letter mentions that the KESSHA 46th National Conference will be held on the same dates as the second term’s midterm exams as they are currently scheduled.The National KESSHA Conference is a significant occasion that enables school administrators to reflect on and exchange experiences in managing schools, as acknowledged by the Ministry.
The midterm dates for the second term year 2023 have been changed as a result, and will now run from June 27 to July 1, 2023.The changing dates must be noted and followed by all school administrators”.
