KNEC Announces Training For KCSE Examiners. Examiners for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will be trained by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
According to a notice made public on Tuesday, the training will occur from August 13–19, 2023.
Only those who make the short list will pay the training charge of Sh10,500, according to KNEC CEO David Njengere.
“The applicants will be informed on how to make the payments through a text message and the portal,” Njengere said.
The shortlisted applicants would be informed of the training location after paying the training cost, he said, adding that the exercise will be completely residential.
According to the criteria for hiring examiners based on the staffing requirements for each paper, KNEC will thereafter engage such examiners, he said.
Teachers who are already certified to administer the KCSE exams and are listed in the KNEC database of examiners do not need to apply, he noted.
He emphasized that interested and qualified instructors are asked to submit applications for test papers in Kiswahili (Insha, Lugha, Fasihi), mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography, home science, Islamic religious education, agriculture, French, Arabic, and business studies.
Interested candidates must be licensed secondary school teachers of the relevant topic.
He or she must possess a certificate in education or higher and be registered with and/or hired by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
They must not be under interdiction or any other type of TSC disciplinary action, and they must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience.
Additionally, candidates must be under 50 years old and have their head of institution’s recommendation.

“Finish filling out your personal profile and saving after a successful login. Clicking “Apply for Training” on the dashboard will bring up all of the stated openings for candidates to select from.
He said that there were only a certain number of training spots available, and that the online application portal would close once those numbers were reached.
Exams for the KCSE are scheduled to begin on October 23, 2023, and end on November 24, 2023, per KNEC.
The practice dates are October 19 and 20, 2023.
