MoE Makes Final Changes To 2023 Third Term Closing Dates. The third term’s academic schedule, which takes place before the 2023 KNEC National Examinations, has been made public by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Dr. Bellio Kipsang, the principal secretary for basic education, said on September 15 that applicants would begin taking national exams on that date.
Kipsang asked parents to make the necessary preparations and work together with instructors to make sure that the test time goes smoothly for the pupils.
“On August 28, 2023, all schools began the third term of the 2023 academic year, which is planned to last through October 27, 2023, in order to prepare for the national examinations season.
In order to allow for adequate preparations prior to the National Examinations, which are scheduled to begin on October 30, 2023, all school activities involving parents and other stakeholders are prohibited during the Third Term, according to the statement.
He added that the government would provide schools with all required capitation funding to maintain a unified calendar.
“The National Treasury has provided Ksh16,249,982,722.28 billion to the Ministry of Education as capitation monies to support the efficient operation of all school activities. According to the announcement, this amount would be distributed to students attending public primary, junior, and secondary schools.
Kipsang stated that capitation would be distributed as follows: Ksh1.75 billion for junior secondary schools; Ksh1.56 billion for free primary education; and Ksh12.9 billion for free day secondary education.
The Ministry of Education will make sure that the monies are credited to the appropriate school accounts by September 20, 2023, in order to sustain the regular operations of all school activities.
In accordance with government laws, a detailed breakdown of the monies and instructions for their wise use have been issued to the schools.
The Ministry of Education distributed Ksh89.4 billion in total as capitation for primary, junior, and secondary school education for the 2022–2023 fiscal year.
