According to the TSC internship agreement, the internship is unpaid. Interns will receive a stipend, however only when the Commission has given its approval. Each year, the Commission will put aside funds for this purpose.
The basic salary for secondary school intern teachers is 20,000 Kenyan shillings.
The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) will withdraw Kes 750 from this amount, and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will deduct Kes. 1080. Total deductions come to Kes 1830
After all deductions, the teacher receives Kes. 18,170.00 to take home
