Official TSC Teacher Promotion Lists Per County 2023. Over 16,000 teachers have made it to the TSC promotions list this year, according to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of Kenya, based on career progression norms and other standards like regional balance, gender equity, and affirmative action for counties in arid and semi-arid lands.
In secondary schools, the promoted teachers will take the positions of Deputy Principals I and II, Senior Master IV, and Head Teachers and Deputy Head Teachers II.
The number of promoted teachers varied across the regions fairly, with Kiambu County having the most, followed by Kisii and Kakamega.
Due to a lack of Deputy School Heads, Senior Teachers, and Masters, the Commission has established standards for the amount of administrators that schools should have.
Additionally, priority will be given to professors who have performed in acting roles for promotions.
While testifying before the Senate Cohesion Committee, the TSC boss drafted a report regarding the medical benefits, employment, promotions, and transfers of the instructors who were generating trouble.
According to a TSC report, from grade B5 (Primary Teacher I) to grade C1 (Primary Teacher II), 6,214 teachers will advance one level and 5,436 teachers would advance two levels.
According to Dr. Macharia’s report, the commission would promote a total of 11,258 teachers in the common cadre promotions for the fiscal year 2022-2023, provided that the budget permits it, in accordance with Regulation 74 of the CORT (Code of Regulations for Teachers).
CATEGORIES OF PROMOTION FOR TEACHERS
The next TSC promotion interviews will lead to the promotion of 551 teachers overall.
The most promotion spots are at Kakamega, according to the data. 36 people will move from C1 to C2, 288 people will move from C1 to C5, and 227 people will move from C1 to C5.
Garissa County will move 21 teachers from B5 to C1, from C1 to C2, and from C2 to C3.
Because of this, the commission plans to promote 10, 021 more teachers through affirmative action in places with a shortage of teachers and 13.717 more teachers through a competitive promotion during the FY.
However, the commission did state that it had located 7,282 primary school teachers who were ready to transfer to junior secondary schools (JSS).
A minimum mean score of C+ on the KCSE or its equivalent, as well as a diploma in education or a bachelor’s degree in education, are required. at least 8 units in each of the two teaching classes (plus) and a grade of C+ or better.
According to Dr. Macharia, to make up for the paucity of instructors at the high schools, the commission has promoted and transferred primary school teachers there since 2019.
