Promotion Of TSC Teachers. The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has announced another wave of promotions for almost 36,000 teachers, barely a week after 14,000 teachers received promotions.
The instructors will be promoted across nine grades, according to a TSC circular, as the government attempts to allay concerns over the stagnation of teachers.
The action, which came a day after teachers’ wage review negotiations struck a roadblock, has been seen as an attempt by the commission to at least partially quell the unrest among the teaching community.
The advancements will be distributed across primary, secondary, and teacher preparation institutions.
While some 10,819 teachers will be promoted to the post of senior instructors in conventional primary schools, the senior master role will have 12,716 vacancies available for promotions.
There are still 216 senior lecturer opportunities in Grade C4 at teacher-training colleges and an additional 700 senior teacher positions in special needs schools.
Additionally, 108 senior principle roles and 34 chief principal positions were advertised by the commission.
Those that are interested should submit an application through the TSC site by September 8th.
The announcement follows the TSC’s one-week-old promotion of 14,000 teachers who had been waiting since the previous fiscal year.
The National Treasury has given the commission Ksh 1 billion to carry out the 36,275 promotions.
