TSC JSS Interns Contract Renewal
While the representatives appearing before the Senate Education Committee ,said that the commission will start to renew the contract for the current serving intern teachers in January 2024.
The TSC boss had also ruled out the possibility of converting the current 46,000 intern teachers to permanent and pensionable (pnp) terms saying the Commission doesn’t have the budget.
According to Macharia, the commission does not have the funds to hire teachers on a permanent and pensionable basis; if funding is provided, we would hire them.
According to Macharia, 2025 is the earliest that intern teachers in primary and secondary schools would be added to the PNP payroll.
Depending on the month they were hired, she continued, 46,000 intern teachers working in elementary and secondary schools will become permanent residents in 2025.
