TSC Promotion Of Teachers Guidelines. There is cause for celebration for teachers who keep their current positions because the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has formally requested a sizeable allocation of Ksh 10 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.
This budget will be used to accomplish a number of objectives, one of which is to promote teachers who have been in their current roles for an extended period of time.
The remaining money will be used to bolster the teaching team by enlisting retired and full-time teachers as well as interns.
Teachers who were previously stuck doing the same job can now grin.
Dr. Nancy Macharia, CEO of TSC, emphasized the important role these funds play in areas that were not fully covered in the previous fiscal year that ended in June.
She expressed the committee’s sincere appreciation for any support in securing this budget allocation, while emphasizing the importance of investing in the education sector.
To further clarify the financial requirements, Dr. Macharia presented a breakdown of the proposed budget. About Ksh 2 billion will be allocated for competitive teacher promotion programs, thereby facilitating the much-awaited professional development.
An additional Ksh 1.2 billion will be spent on recruiting trainee teachers, thereby helping to attract new talent into the education system.
Additionally, a significant sum of Ksh 5.3 billion is earmarked for the permanent recruitment of 8,000 teachers, which will not only benefit teachers but also address the need for quality education across the country. Read more:
This development offers prospects for professional advancement and opportunities to improve working conditions, which is quite encouraging for educators who feel stuck in their existing employment group.
It also gives optimism to thousands registered with the Teachers Service Commission unemployed teachers who are eagerly awaiting employment openings.
In order to demonstrate TSC’s commitment to enhancing education and offering greater opportunities for teachers in Kenya, Dr. Macharia presented these ideas to the Parliamentary Education Committee during the consideration of the Budget Policy Statement for the 2023–2024 fiscal year.
