TSC Sends Circular To All Teachers. TSC CEO Dr. Nancy Macharia has ordered all teachers employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to complete their individual income tax forms for the prior year by the end of June.
P9 Forms in T-Pay portal
Teachers are made aware of the P9 forms that have been uploaded to the T-Pay portal for all employees to download and use to file their tax returns.
In addition, there is a penalty fee of KSh 20,000 or 5% of the tax payable, whichever is higher, for failing to submit KRA returns by the deadline.
Receiving approval from KRA may also be problematic for late filers, which can be particularly onerous after retirement.
However, teachers can visit the closest cybercafé or contact the TSC Accounts Division or KRA service centers for help filling their returns.
It is important for teachers to file their returns on time to avoid these penalties.
How to file Tax return as a teacher on KRA iTax 2023/2024(Procedure)
Kenyan teachers have till June 30 to file their taxes online through the KRA’s iTax platform.
Teachers must enter their KRA pin and password to log in to the iTax portal in order to submit their tax returns.
Their TSC P9 form, which displays their monthly taxable income, deductions, monthly personal relief, and other information necessary for calculating and paying individual income tax, is then available for download on the TSC portal.
Teachers can file their returns via the iTax platform by downloading the P9 form, filling out the information in an Excel template, and uploading the completed form.
